  • More Tales of the City is the second book (published in 1980) in Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City series. It was originally serialized in the San Francisco Chronicle.
  • Following controversy surrounding the gay themes, nudity and drug use in the first Tales of the City mini-series, PBS bowed to threats of federal funding cuts and did not participate in the production of More Tales of the City. The second mini-series was eventually co-produced by the UK's Channel 4 and the US pay cable channel Showtime.
  • Due to scheduling conflicts and other issues with cast members from the first Tales, five characters had to be recast for More Tales: Nina Siemaszko replaced Chloe Webb as Mona Ramsey, Paul Hopkins replaced Marcus D'Amico as Michael "Mouse" Tolliver, Whip Hubley replaced Paul Gross as Brian Hawkins, Diana Leblanc replaced Nina Foch as Frannie Halcyon and Fran├žoise Robertson replaced Cynda Williams as D'orothea Wilson.
  • Cameo appearances include Edward Asner, Paul Bartel, Brian Bedford, Dan Butler, Sheila McCarthy, Parker Posey, Scott Thompson and Tales author Armistead Maupin as a priest.
