Notes/Trivia:
  • The Sum of Us is the third play in David Stevens' "A Currency Trilogy", following The Inn at the Beginning of the World and The Beast and the Beauty. It debuted Off-Broadway in 1990. Starring Tony Goldwyn as Jeff, the production won the Outer Critics Circle Award for the Outstanding Off-Broadway Play. It was first produced in Australia in 1992.
  • The screen adaptation mimics the play's device of breaking the fourth wall with direct to camera conversational asides by Harry and Jeff.
