Notes/Trivia:
  • The title of the film refers to its setting, Tel Aviv, a relatively peaceful city in a tumultuous region. The original title was Romeo and Julio, but it was changed after director/co-writer Eytan Fox was told that that made it sound like a pornographic movie.
  • Eytan Fox has said that the script is semi-autobiographical, based on his memory of falling in love with a Palestinian man when he was going through his military service at age eighteen.
  • Characters in the movie go see a performance of Martin Sherman's play Bent featuring actors Lior Ashkenazi and Yossi Marshak.
