Synopsis:
When film director Enrique is visited by Ignacio, his childhood friend (and lover), Ignacio gives him a short story he's written that's a factual account of the molestation he sustained at the hands of their Catholic school teacher.

  • Originally rated NC-17 in the United States for "a scene of explicit sexual content". After an oral sex scene was altered, the film was given an R-rating.
  • The first Spanish film to open the Cannes Film Festival.
  • Gael García Bernal fired off an angry riposte to the New York Times for claiming that he had had a falling out with Pedro Almodóvar over the explicit homosexual love scenes in Bad Education. Bernal wanted it on record that he had had absolutely no reservations about taking the role.
