Notes/Trivia:
  • One of Canada's highest grossing films of all time.
  • The film's title was inspired by the lyric "Your love is better than chocolate" from Sarah McLachlan's song "Ice Cream".
  • The subplot about the bookstore is a fairly direct reference to the Vancouver bookstore Little Sister's Book and Art Emporium and its legal problems with Canadaian Customs. The bookstore is thanked in the film's credits.
  • The film's poster (see above) was banned by the Hong Kong Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority as it was deemed "offensive to public morality, decency and ordinary good taste." An advertisement in the San Diego Union-Tribune was also censored because it included the word "lesbian".
