Synopsis:
Ismael and Julie become involved in a three-way relationship when they both fall for Alice, but the complicated emotional entanglements unravel after a tragedy. Trying to soothe his pain, Ismael drifts from one meaningless encounter to another, until he meets a young man who tries to help him overcome his loss.

Notes/Trivia:
  • An homage to Jacques Demy's classic French movie musical The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (Les Parapluies de Cherbourg). Like that film, Love Songs is divided into three parts, titled "The Departure", "The Absence" and "The Return". 
  • Director Christophe Honoré makes a cameo appearance during the funeral scene.
  • Cited as a favorite by filmmaker John Waters, who presented it as his annual selection at the 2009 Maryland Film Festival.
