Notes/Trivia:
  • Based on writer/director Todd Graff's experiences at a real drama camp called Stagedoor Manor. Located in the Catskills in upstate New York, many of Camp's Camp Ovation scenes were filmed there.
  • Musical theater composer Stephen Sondheim makes a rare onscreen appearance in a cameo as himself.
  • Several of the musical numbers in the film are from such classic Broadway musicals as Dreamgirls, Company, Follies and Promises, Promises.
  • A sequel, titled Camp 2: Freaks in Nature, will go into production in 2016.
