  • The idea for the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt was conceived in 1985 by activist Cleve Jones and officially started in 1987. Weighing an estimated 54 tons, it is the largest piece of community folk art in the world.
  • Inspired by the book The Quilt: Stories From The NAMES Project by Cindy Ruskin, Matt Herron and Deborah Zemke.
  • Tom Waddell, founder of the Gay Games, is one of the people profiled in the film.
