Notes/Trivia:
  • Robert Morley made his name on the stage playing the title character in Oscar Wilde in London in 1936. The play was a success despite being banned from major London theatres because of its theme of homosexuality. It was later produced in New York in 1938, with Morely reprising his acclaimed performance in his Broadway debut.
  • A scene depicting Oscar Wilde attempting to pick up a newspaper boy on a foggy London street was cut from the final version.
  • This was one of two British films about Oscar Wilde released in 1960, the other being The Trials of Oscar Wilde, starring Peter Finch.
