Notes/Trivia:
  • In the ending of Isaac Bashevis Singer's Yentl the Yeshiva Boy (first published in his 1963 short story collection Short Friday and Other Stories), Yentl remains trapped in her disguise after her marriage to Hadass fails, a far cry from Streisand's optimistic movie musical finale.
  • The stage play Yentl premiered on Broadway in 1975. Tovah Feldshuh was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance in the title role.
  • Barbra Streisand's feature film directorial debut.
