Notes/Trivia:
  • The play Bent had its world premiere in London's West End in 1979. Ian McKellen, who appears as Uncle Freddie in the film, starred in the lead role of Max.
  • Richard Gere played Max in Bent's Broadway production, which opened in 1979 and was nominated for two Tony Awards, including Best Play. The film's producers wanted Gere to recreate his performance onscreen, but he wasn't available.
  • Paul Bettany (in his film debut), Jude Law and Rachel Weisz have minor roles in the film.
