  • The film is dedicated to El Hedi ben Salem, Rainer Werner Fassbinder's ex-lover who committed suicide while in a French prison for stabbing three people.
  • The 1982 documentary The Wizard of Babylon documents the making of Querelle. It features an interview with Rainer Werner Fassbinder that was filmed only ten hours before his death.
