  • An earlier, unproduced Harvey Milk biopic was based on Randy Shilts' biography The Mayor of Castro Street. Oliver Stone wrote a script, Gus Van Sant and later Bryan Singer were attached to direct, and Daniel Day-Lewis, Richard Gere, Al Pacino, Robin Williams and James Woods were under consideration to play Milk.
